RIPHOTO #1 - Contemporary photography festival
project by Areacreativa42, Rivarolo Canavese (Turin)
curated by Giorgio Bena, Francesca Bernardi, Sarah Ed-drissi, Andrea Fenu

RIPHOTO, in its first edition, is a photographic exhibition organized in the territory of Rivarolo Canavese (Turin) between 19 September and 18 October 2020.
The theme of the first edition, Beyond the Image, is an attempt to focus on those artists who freely interpret the medium and the photographic language. The artists involved go beyond the concept of photography as a reproduction and / or interpretation of the real and the visible: they elaborate, distort and reconstruct it. Even the images themselves are part of a process: they are combined, superimposed and modified or come from an appropriation of photographs of other people.
RIPHOTO wants to be a platform for analysis, exchange and dialogue with artists for whom photographic practice, in all its forms, is a tool that is part of a discourse, without enclosing its origin and conclusion.
The main exhibition was hosted in the space of Villa Vallero, with works by Luca Baioni, Fabio Bix, Oscar Brum, Francesco Capponi, Claudia Corrent, Virginia Dal Magro, Charlie Davoli, Gennifer Deri, Chiara Dondi, Matteo Suffritti, Valeria Secchi and Anna Skoromnaya.
The special section Pop UP (h) was based in the new exhibition space of the Town Hall, the Project Room Spazio Lomellini (via Ivrea 60): the project "After photography", curated by the artist and teacher Silvia Bigi, was developed through five exhibitions each lasting a weekend, dedicated to Francesca Artoni, Veronica Benedetti, Roberta Casadei, Nicolò Ferrario and Valentina Vannelli.
